Welcome

I write perspective-altering novels, with

characters that make me laugh and cry and take

me away for a while.

I like speeches that don’t take things too seriously

but have a point and get to it quickly.

I strive for clarity of method, thought, and

philosophy in everything I do.

I believe in the power of a well placed wisecrack.

What’s Happening

Coyotes Don’t Cry

While waiting for a wildfire to put an end to his pathetic life, Robin Fletcher finds someone in a tree. A homeless boy? Maybe the damn kid who left the gate open and let out his dog? Can’t I just die in peace? But it’s not a homeless boy. It’s Kayo Tee, a girl who was raised by coyotes in the Siskiyou Mountains above Ashland, Oregon. The Coyote Girl, who speaks English like she just stepped out of a Shakespeare play, has never been inside a house, and, right now, she’s dying. At once lyrical nature writing and page-turning suspense, Coyote Passage will change how you see the world and your place in it. “The band played the old songs that never failed, songs of bawdiness washed down with a sip of moral justice: serious enough to bring forth a tear and silly enough to raise a smile.” In a world of faeries, elves, maermaids, (and maerbutlers), a tyrant incites a violent rebellion that destroys a peaceful and prosperous kingdom. Only a cursed innkeeper, a powerless queen, a handful of pirates, and a dozen bastards stand in the way of total devastation. It’s fun, it’s funny, and it’s intense. * Yes, the title was supposed to be Bastard Knights but Amazon considers the word “bastard” profane and won’t allow promotion on its site; the site from which 85% of all ebooks are sold, so we bow to one of the richest men in the world but with ill-cheer.

What’s next

Coyotes Don’t Cry is in its second draft! Ransom returns to high concept fiction, and it’s going to blow you away. The first draft of Knights of The Gold Piece Inn, Volume 2 of the Book of Bastards trilogy, is complete, but due to a problem with Amazon* is on hold. Ransom sends his second drafts to beta-testers for comments/criticism/wisecracks--if you’d like to be a beta- reader, send him a note; check here for contact info. He’d love to have your eyes on his prize.
